Warrant of Fitness (WoF)
A WoF is a regular safety check required for most light vehicles on New Zealand roads. It helps ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and meets New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) safety standards.

What vehicles require a WoF?
A WoF (Warrant of Fitness) is a compulsory safety inspection required for most light vehicles in New Zealand, including cars, utes, SUVs, and vans. Depending on your vehicle’s age, a WoF is due every 6 or 12 months to ensure it remains safe and roadworthy.
What do you inspect during a WoF?
We check essential safety items including:

What happens if my car fails the WoF?
If your vehicle doesn’t pass, we’ll provide a detailed report outlining what needs to be fixed. You’re welcome to carry out repairs with us or another provider - we offer a free recheck once those items are resolved.

WoF inspections start from $79.
Certificate of Fitness (CoF)
A CoF is a more detailed safety inspection required for heavy and commercial vehicles. It ensures vehicles used for higher-risk or high-mileage purposes remain safe, compliant, and roadworthy.

A CoF (Certificate of Fitness) is a safety inspection required for heavy vehicles and commercial-use vehicles such as trucks, campervans, taxis, and buses. Most vehicles needing a CoF are inspected every 6 months.

A CoF is more comprehensive than a WoF and includes checks on:

What happens if my vehicle fails the CoF?
If your vehicle doesn’t pass, we’ll explain the issues and provide a written report. You can complete repairs with us or any licensed repairer. Once resolved, please note that a recheck with us will incur a fee.

CoF is priced on application (POA) depending on your vehicle’s type and configuration.
